snot face

This is where I've been held up the last few days...

It started Monday and Tuesday with a full feeling in my throat, not quite a sore throat, but on the verge. I drank lots and lots of fluid, went to yoga, and tried to stave off the sickness with positive thoughts.

Wednesday morning came and I felt like I had been hit by a truck. My head was killing me, I had a low grade temperature of 100.5, body aches, and stuffy head.

Beautiful, right?

I somehow managed to drag myself through Target to buy a few essentials and the rest of my days have been spent indoors for the most part.

I've been drinking about 2-3 liters of fluid each day, taking Vitamin C and Echinacea, which may not even be doing a damn thing since I'm already sick, but I figured it wouldn't hurt...
(..also an un-pictured Excedrin. It's the only thing to stop my headaches, fever, and body aches)

...drinking this tea, which has a 10-15 minute steep time!

Trying to keep my snotty tissues from piling up around the house...

Each day I've been taking 2-3 hot baths. I think it's becoming a bit OCD for me. I love to just soak in the hottest water possible because it warms my bones and it opens up my sinuses.

I've also been using my neti pot about 3 times per day and I swear that it, along with everything else I have done, has cut my sick time in half...

Late yesterday afternoon, I was feeling stir crazy from being on the couch and the sun was shining on the porch, so I put down a towel and basked in the light.
I feel like the sun is so healing...ah, Vitamin D...

Lots of homemade healing soup has also been ingested...

On a somewhat unrelated note, I wanted to mention that after my hot baths, I've been lathering my whole body in Organic Virgin Coconut oil...

The founder of Kelapo coconut asked if I wanted to try the product through Twitter, and she was kind enough to send me an 8oz jar. I have yet to cook with this brand yet, but it's lovely as a moisturizer.

Here's to health!

Learning my camera

My new Nikon D3000 arrived last night, so this morning I woke up like a kid on Christmas morning, eager to test out my toy.

Of course, the bag and special DVD that I bought is coming in a different package, so I am still waiting on that. As of right now, I've watched a few Youtube videos on DSLR cameras, but it's safe to say I'm pretty clueless. I don't want to rely on the auto setting. I can't wait to be a pro at the manual settings and adjusting everything...

Max has obviously been my subject today...

And then I went and got a much needed hair cut!

Here's a before, sans makeup...

 And after:

And took a walk through the park...

"What is it that dies? A log of wood dies to become a few planks. The planks die to become a chair. The chair dies to become a piece of firewood, and the firewood dies to become ash. You give different names to the different shapes the wood takes, but the basic substance is there always. If we could always remember this, we would never worry about the loss of anything. We never lose anything; we never gain anything. By such discrimination we put an end to unhappiness."
